Brooklyn Academy For Girls Celebrates First Graduating Class With 100% College Acceptance
Nationwide — Brooklyn Emerging Leaders Academy (BELA) Charter School, an all-girls high school in Brooklyn, New York, is celebrating its first graduating class in the school’s history. Even more, all of the graduates have been accepted into college!Launched in 2017, the school has since aimed to help overcome the educational inequalities encountered by Black and Brown youth by empowering “each young woman to be the best version of herself.” And its first batch of graduates proved exactly that.
Meanwhile, the school recently held a “college shower” for their senior class. All of 50 students were each given college gear, which includes duffle bags, dorm supplies, and a pair of wireless headphones.
Brooklyn Academy for Girls Celebrates First Graduating Class With 100% College Acceptance
Brooklyn, NY – A historic milestone was reached this week at the Brooklyn Academy for Girls, as the school proudly celebrated its very first graduating class. Even more remarkable is the fact that 100% of the graduating students have been accepted into college — a rare and inspiring achievement that highlights the school’s commitment to academic excellence and student success.
Founded just a few years ago with a mission to empower young women through education, leadership, and community engagement, the Brooklyn Academy for Girls has already made a lasting impact. This year’s graduating class, made up of determined, talented, and hardworking students, has set a high standard for future classes to follow.
“This is more than just a graduation — it’s a celebration of dreams realized and barriers broken,” said Principal [Insert Name], speaking at the commencement ceremony. “Our students have faced challenges, overcome obstacles, and worked incredibly hard to reach this moment. We couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve accomplished.”
The ceremony was filled with emotion, joy, and pride as families, teachers, and community leaders gathered to honor the students’ achievements. Many of the graduates are first-generation college students, making their accomplishments even more meaningful.
Students have been accepted into a wide range of colleges and universities across the country, including both public and private institutions, with some receiving full scholarships. Their fields of interest range from medicine and law to engineering, education, and the arts.
Parents expressed deep gratitude for the school’s dedication and the personalized support their children received. “This school believed in my daughter when others didn’t,” said one proud parent. “Now, she’s heading to college with confidence and a purpose.”
The 100% college acceptance rate is a powerful testament to the school’s focus on rigorous academics, strong mentorship, and a culture that encourages young women to dream big and pursue higher education.
As the Brooklyn Academy for Girls sends off its first group of graduates, it also sets the tone for the future — one of possibility, resilience, and excellence.
“Today, you are rewriting history and contributing to the legacy of District 16 and Bedford-Stuyvesant,” BELA co-founder and head of school Nicia Fullwood said to the graduating students, according to Patch.
