Angelina Jolie Reportedly Lists $24.5M Home

Hollywood icon Angelina Jolie is ready to close a major chapter of her life — and it involves saying goodbye to her historic $24.5M Los Angeles estate. The Maria star, 50, is officially preparing to list her legendary 1913-built mansion for sale, sources tell PEOPLE.

The decision comes as Jolie actively plans a permanent move abroad, a dream she’s had for years but was unable to pursue due to a long-running custody agreement with ex-husband Brad Pitt, 61.

For nearly a decade, Jolie has been anchored to Los Angeles because of her shared custody of the former couple’s six children — Maddox, 24; Pax, 21; Zahara, 20; Shiloh, 19; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17.

At 50, Angelina Jolie appears to be embracing a new chapter in life. With her youngest children nearing adulthood, the actress is stepping back from Los Angeles and the constant glare of Hollywood. Reports indicate she has listed her Los Feliz estate, a historic property she purchased in 2017 for $24.5 million, marking a shift toward a quieter lifestyle.

The six-bedroom mansion, built in 1913, was once owned by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille. Spanning two acres, the estate combines history and charm, featuring lush gardens, a swimming pool, and sweeping views of the Griffith Observatory. For Jolie, the home became more than just a residence—it was a sanctuary for her children and even a refuge for friends displaced by California wildfires.

Its location also played an important role. Situated only five minutes from Brad Pitt’s residence, the estate provided convenience during co-parenting years, allowing the couple to focus on raising their six children. Jolie often valued the home’s quiet paths and rich history over its luxury, calling it a “fortunate place.”

With her divorce finalized in late 2024 and twins Knox and Vivienne soon turning 18, Jolie is now preparing to look abroad. She has long expressed interest in relocating outside the U.S., seeking greater privacy, peace, and a slower pace of life. Cambodia, where she maintains deep cultural and philanthropic ties, is expected to be central to her next chapter. Even as she moves forward, Jolie plans to stay close to her family while continuing her global humanitarian work.

“She never wanted to live in L.A. full time. She didn’t have a choice because of the custody arrangement,” an insider revealed. “She plans to relocate as soon as Knox and Viv turn 18 next year. She’s eyeing several locations abroad and will be very happy when she can finally leave.”

Jolie has been candid about her feelings toward Los Angeles, telling The Hollywood Reporter in 2024 that she lives in the city “because I have to be here from a divorce.” She added that her ideal environment is one where her children can enjoy privacy, peace, and safety — qualities she feels are increasingly hard to find in Hollywood.

Her first stop after leaving? Cambodia — the country where she adopted her eldest son Maddox in 2002 and a place she considers her “true home.” From there, she plans to divide her time between family members scattered across the globe.

Jolie purchased the property in 2017 for $24.5 million, making it the most expensive home sold in Los Angeles that year. The sprawling 11,000-square-foot estate boasts six bedrooms, ten bathrooms, and sits on beautifully landscaped grounds.

But beyond luxury, the home holds Hollywood royalty status. Built in 1913, it was originally bought by legendary director Cecil B. DeMille in 1916 for under $28,000. DeMille later expanded the property by purchasing and combining it with the neighboring home once owned by silent film legend Charlie Chaplin.

“It’s a historic masterpiece and truly such a beautiful estate,” a source close to the actress said. Jolie reportedly plans to make minor improvements before officially putting the mansion on the market.

This isn’t the first time Jolie has made headlines for unexpected moments in her personal life. In recent years, she’s navigated an eight-year divorce battle with Pitt, which was finally settled in December 2024. Despite their differences, Pitt has praised Jolie as a mother, and the pair now maintain an amicable co-parenting relationship.

Angelina Jolie’s decision to sell her L.A. home marks more than just a real estate move — it’s the final step toward reclaiming the global lifestyle she’s always wanted. When her youngest children come of age in 2026, the Hollywood star is poised to leave Los Angeles behind for a future filled with travel, family, and the international roots that have defined much of her life.
