Fetterman Shuts Down AOC’s Call To Impeach Trump

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and other progressives pushed to impeach President Trump over his Iran strikes, but Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) declared the effort “dead on arrival,” saying impeachment talk cheapens its meaning. Even some Democrats admitted the push had no real chance, though they accused Trump of bypassing Congress.

Republicans strongly defended Trump, with Vice President J.D. Vance and Speaker Mike Johnson saying the president acted within his authority to stop Iran. GOP lawmakers also blasted Democrats for hypocrisy, noting past presidents used military force without facing impeachment calls.

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman brushed aside far-left “Squad” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s clamoring to impeach President Trump over his Saturday strikes against three of Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Fetterman (D-Pa.), who lauded the attack, warned that Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) threat reduces the significance of impeachment, which he implied should be reserved for more extreme circumstances.

“Of course, no, she knows it. I know it. We all know it,” Fetterman told Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” when asked about the possibility of Trump getting impeached over the strikes.

“That’s not going anywhere on. And you know, he’s been impeached twice, and now he’s still our president,” the Keystone State lawmaker added.

“I think if you throw that term around, that actually diminishes what the severity of what impeachment is really reserved for.”

On Saturday, Trump announced that he had ordered strikes on Iran’s Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan nuclear facilities. Top military officials are still assessing the damage done during the strikes, but Trump claimed there had been “monumental damage” done.

Trump drew ire from many on the left and from some in his own party for launching the surprise attack known as “Operation Midnight Hammer” against Iran’s key nuclear sites without congressional approval on Saturday.

In an X post reacting to the news, Ocasio-Cortez wrote, “The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers.

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman shot down “Squad” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s call to impeach President Donald Trump for ordering airstrikes against key Iranian nuclear sites, telling Fox News that the proposal isn’t “going anywhere.”

“Of course, no [he should not be impeached],” the Keystone State Democrat said on “America’s Newsroom,” Monday.

“She knows it. I know it. We all know it… that’s not going anywhere. He’s been impeached twice, and now he’s still our president as well too, so it’s not going anywhere, and I don’t think [bringing it up is] helpful.”

In an X post reacting to the news, Ocasio-Cortez wrote, “The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers.”

“He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”

Fetterman, who has been supportive of Israel and critical of Iran, said that tossing around the word “impeachment” diminishes the severity of what it should be reserved for.

“Operation Midnight Hammer” employed B-2 stealth bombers to strike three Iranian nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan after a long journey across the Atlantic on Saturday.

In an address to the nation shortly after, Trump touted the mission as a “spectacular military success.”
